FAQ: What If I Already Have A Stripe Account?

Using an existing Stripe account may block setup — here’s how to get connected with Tourney Direct

I'm having trouble connecting via Stripe. Is it because I already have a Stripe account?

Yes, it could be. If you're trying to connect to Tourney Direct via Stripe and you're running into issues — especially if you're using an email address already associated with another Stripe Express Connect account — the problem might stem from that existing connection.

Why does this happen?

Stripe allows users to connect with multiple platforms, but each platform can set its own onboarding and compliance requirements. If your existing Stripe Express account was set up with a different platform (e.g. another company or event system), those settings may block or limit your ability to connect with Tourney Direct using the same email.

This isn't something we can override directly — it's a limitation based on how Stripe manages cross-platform connections.

How to Fix It

The easiest solution is to create a new Stripe Express account using a different email address. Here's how:

  1. Reach out to our support team and request that your payment account be reset.
  2. Return to the Tourney Direct portal and click Payments --> Create Account

  3. When prompted by Stripe, use an alternate email address that is not currently linked to another Stripe Express Connect account.

  4. Complete the setup process as guided.

This will create a new Stripe Express account dedicated to your payments through Tourney Direct.
